Update for Cigna/MetLife patients
Effective January 1, 2026, we will no longer be in-network with Cigna and MetLife. We value the trust you place in us and remain committed to providing exceptional dental care. If this change may affect you, please read below and contact us with any questions. Thank you!
The Truth About Dental Insurance
- Dental insurance is not true insurance. It’s a limited benefit plan, not comprehensive coverage. Unlike medical or car insurance, it doesn’t protect against major financial loss—it just helps offset routine care.
- Coverage percentages are based on outdated fee schedules. Most plans haven’t increased annual benefits in 50+ years. $1,500 in 1971 is still $1,500 today—even though costs and care have evolved.
- “Usual and customary” isn’t what it sounds like. Insurance companies base this on averages—including discount clinics—then reduce it further. Quality care often exceeds this benchmark.
- The 100% or 80% language is misleading. That percentage applies to the insurance company’s allowed amount, not our actual fee—and only after deductibles and exclusions are applied.
- Many essential services aren't covered. Modern dentistry includes advanced procedures like implants and tooth replacement. Many plans exclude these to protect profits—not because they’re unnecessary.
Still our Patient, Still our Priority
- Can I still be a patient here? Absolutely. Nothing is changing about your care with us—we’re just no longer contracted with your insurance. You are always welcome here.
- Will my insurance still pay for anything? Yes. We will still file your insurance as a courtesy. Most plans will reimburse part of your visit, and you may have a balance at the time of service. If your insurance overpays, we’ll apply it as a credit to your account or issue a refund - whichever you prefer.
- Why are you dropping my insurance? We want to spend more time focused on your care—not restricted by insurance limitations. This allows us to provide the best materials, more personalized treatment, and more time with you.
- Will it cost me more? In some cases, yes—but not always. We’re transparent about all fees and will walk through everything with you before starting treatment. No surprises.
- What do I need to do next? The main change is we’re no longer contracted with your plan. But you can still be seen here, and we’ll walk you through how insurance works moving forward.
